Gone, and probably forgotten

I've just noticed how long it's been since I last posted here. Yikes! well, let me 'splain what's been going on. Hollywood is preparing for a potential writers' strike and so everyone is hustling around trying to get all their work turned in before the contract expires at the end of October. According to Variety, rumor has it that the writers may wait and keep working without a contract and then go out on strike next March when SAG and the DGA 's contracts are also up, therefore three unions out at the same time should end things quickly and hopefully relatively painlessly. So, we've been working our asses off trying to get all work turned in and keeping our fingers crossed that nothing happens until March, strikewise.
Meanwhile, up here in wine country we just got our central ac installed in the house since we had a record breaking heat spell last year and we have a lot of glass and skylights, it does get hot in here. So what's it lioke outside right now.....cold. Like 60 degrees and foggy and in the upper 40's or 50 degrees at night. So much for air conditioning, but I'm glad we've got it, just in case.
My sister-in-law and her husband are coming in from New York for a weeks visit on Sunday. They've been all over the world, she's an Indologist and he's an archeologist and one of the curators of the Met in New York, but they've never been to Sonoma. True upper east-Siders, they don't drive so we'll be chauffering them around and since we live up on a hill, if we don't go they don't go. I think the Hamptons is about as rural as they get.
They've made a bunch of reservations for restaurants in Napa (the Other Valley) so we'll be driving over there and doing quite a bit of recreational eating. Since I've been coooking every day in order to save time gettinbg this work done, save time as in not leaving the house, it'll be great to get out again.

On the other hand our Siberian Husky Patsy has a new boyfriend at the Dog Park. His name is Pepper. We're so proud.

We Have a New Family Member

As you know we lost Sula last October. We wanted another husky but it was difficult just going out adopting another dog.
We searched and searched through various husky rescue sites around us. We were hoping to find another female but it seemed that all the huskies that drifted into rescue were males. We also discovered that getting a new dog is like getting a new boy/girl friend after a bad break up. One constantly is comparing every dog one meets to ones' Sainted Husky now departed. Finally someone at the rescue organization suggested that we contact members of our local Siberian HUsky club that show dogs. Occasionally they have an ex-showdog that needs to be re-homed. That's how we met Patsy.

Her full name is Ch. Alpines' Absolutely Fabulous...otherwise known as Patsy. She came to us (after a home inspection) from Corvalis Oregon, caravaned down to us in Sonoma. She is absolutely adorable. She just turned two .

Anway, I know it's been a long time posting but between work and dog hunting we've been extremely tied up so, now I'm off to see what everyone else has been doing.

I have really been out of touch, work as usual of course. Also we are about to get another dog...I think. This has been a long process since losing Sula and we've tried to be as careful in adopting as we can, so supposedly the new family member will be joing us sometime at the end of the week. Other than that, it's been very very very wet here in Sonoma.

and then we're done. At least for now, it's always for now in our business. The good thing is Hollywood is like high school and within the next few days everyone scatters for the holidays, stuff is shuttered till next Semester (after the New Year that is). Sundance is the equivalent of those teacher conferences we always got let out of school for..same for Cannes. We just got Babel in the mail for voting..so far the stuff that's been sent out has been just so-so. I want to see the good stuff. Looking forward to The Good Shepherd, The Good German, Apocalypto (yes, I know he;s a psycho) and of course....Borat, Marie Antoinette, and whatever else looks good out there.
